A trial is underway for a former Habersham County sheriff's deputy, who is accused in a raid that left a toddler seriously injured.

Ex-deputy Nikki Autry pleaded not guilty to the charges related to the botched raid that left Bounkham Phonesavanh, "Baby Bou Bou," severely injured.

Bounkham, who was a one-year-old toddler at the time, suffered severe burns during the incident after a flash bang grenade landed in his playpen, according to authorities.

No gunmen or drugs were found in the home.

Baby Bou Bou's family told FOX 5 he has undergone numerous surgeries. They held a vigil Sunday afternoon ahead of the start of the federal trial.

Autry faces federal charges of misleading a judge in order to get a warrant for the raid.
