JOHNS CREEK, Ga. - A Johns Creek family is warning their neighbors to be on guard after a break-in at their home the evening of September 9
Thieves broke into the family's home on Donnington Drive and stole a safe which contained expensive jewelry and gold.
Tuan Pham Gia discovered the break-in when he returned home after a night out with friends. His parents were out of town. “Once they found the safe they threw it out the master bedroom window so there was some damage to the window sill itself and if you look in the backyard there is a big indentation where the safe landed.”
Pham Gia said some of the jewelry held sentimental value. “Some of those items are reserved from my brother and myself for when we get married. Being Vietnamese and Buddhist religiously there are some items that are used during the wedding ceremony, so it's like typically a golden necklace a matching set with rings and earrings that the bride would typically wear. So some of those sets were in the safe.”
Pham Gia said a week before the break-in a suspicious person knocked on their door at about nine that night, then drove off in a waiting car as his parents answered the door. He believes that same individual committed the burglary.
“What I would advise is for others to look out for would be suspicious activity.”
