Worker shot at collision shop in Avondale Estates
Police say that a worker was shot at a collision shop in Avondale Estates on Monday morning. This is a breaking news report.
AVONDALE ESTATES, Ga. - A woman suspected of shooting a man multiple times outside an Avondale Estates auto repair shop was later found in Hapeville with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.
What we know:
Avondale Estates police responded Monday to Harley Collision at 126 Maple Street after receiving reports of a shooting.
Officers found a 53-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and immediately began providing aid. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Police said the victim was conscious and speaking with investigators.
Suspect found at Hapeville McDonald's
Investigators used physical evidence and witness accounts to identify a suspect and a vehicle that had left the scene before officers arrived. That information was shared with surrounding law enforcement agencies.
Hapeville police later located the vehicle and a 47-year-old female suspect in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant.
Police said the woman had suffered what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. She was also transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. Her condition was not immediately known.
