Savannah airport to resume normal operations Friday | What we know

Operations at Savannah Hilton Head International Airport are expected to return to normal on Friday. 

Coastal Georgia saw an unprecedented snowstorm on Tuesday, which led to flights being delayed or canceled over the past couple of day.

What we know:

According to FlightAware, 109 flights were canceled on Thursday, or about 71% of its normal traffic, which is more than Wednesday, when 90 flights in and out of Savannah Hilton Head International Airport were canceled.

This included 7 flights on Wednesday and 8 flights on Thursday to and from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

While the airport had not officially closed, operations were significantly impacted following the snow. Runways and taxiways had to be cleared of snow and ice.

Airport officials posted an update on Thursday to their social media pages, which read: 

"SAV will resume flight operations at noon tomorrow, January 24th. We encourage passengers to stay in touch with their airline for the most up-to-date flight information. Please use caution when driving on roadways, as snow and ice continue to melt."
