Rockdale County high school evacuates due to safety threat
The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office is investigating Salem High School in reference to a safety threat. Out an abundance of precaution the school was evacuated while deputies investigate this incident. This is a developing story.
ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. - Salem High School in Rockdale County was evacuated early Friday afternoon due to a safety threat, according to Rockdale County Sheriff's Office.
What we know:
The students were relocated to another area while the sheriff's office investigates the threat.
The school sent messages to parents with further information.
A couple of hours after the students were moved, the sheriff's office said that they had conducted a thorough investigation and there was no evidence that the safety of students and school personnel was at risk.
The sheriff's office also said that it is actively working to identify the source of the reported safety threat.
What we don't know:
The sheriff's office did not release any information about the threat. It is unknown if it was a threat made by email, phone or on social media.
