Lamb Chop brings 'After Dark' show to Atlanta
Iconic puppet Lamb Chop and her big sister Mallory Lewis are coming to Atlanta’s Center for Puppetry Arts for an all-new adult-oriented stage show featuring music, dance, comedy, and audience participation.
ATLANTA - It’s been nearly 70 years since Shari Lewis first appeared on TV's "Captain Kangaroo" with a lovable and feisty little lady named Lamb Chop.
And this weekend, the pioneering puppeteer’s daughter Mallory will be in Atlanta with a new stage show — and, yes, her "little sister" will be right there by her side!
Mallory Lewis and Lamb Chop will take the stage at Atlanta’s Center for Puppetry Arts this Sunday evening for "Lamb Chop After Dark," an all-new adult-oriented stage show featuring music, dance, comedy, and audience participation. Now, we know what you’re thinking: Lamb Chop doing adult-oriented comedy? During an interview with Good Day Atlanta, Mallory Lewis clarified just how "adult" her fluffy little 6-year-old sibling would get.
"As my mother used to say, ‘It’s not a blue act, it’s a baby blue act,’" Lewis said. "And by that, I mean Lamb Chop, of course, never says anything that is inappropriate…"
"Well, sort of," interrupts Lamb Chop.
Mallory Lewis has been performing with Lamb Chop since Shari Lewis passed away in 1998 — and in recent years, Lamb Chop has experienced quite a renaissance. If you’ve been to a pet store lately, you have no doubt seen Lamb Chop’s likeness (The New York Times called her "America’s hottest dog toy"), and the iconic puppet has also garnered more than a million likes on her TikTok and Instagram posts.
"I’m not trying to sell anything," says Lewis of social media stardom. "I am speaking from my heart to mom’s fans. And mom’s fans have huge hearts."
What you can do:
"Lamb Chop After Dark" — featuring Mallory Lewis, Lamb Chop, and Hush Puppy! — takes the Center for Puppetry Arts stage Sunday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m., and tickets are $17 for members and $20 for non-members.
