FOX 5 viewer Brandy Peace took photos of flash flooding in Cedartown Tuesday.

The FOX 5 Storm Team said about two inches of rain fell within a very short amount of time Tuesday afternoon with more on the way.

That prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Flash Flood Warning for Polk County until 8:15 p.m. Tuesday

These images show the accumulation of that heavy rain over a short period of time.

The FOX 5 Storm Team reminds drivers to not try to drive through flooded roadways.

A FOX 5 viewer shared a video of an SUV submerged at the intersection of West Avenue and Pryor Station Road.

If a driver cannot see the road, it could possibly be washed out underneath.

It also only takes six inches of water to cause a vehicle to lose control or stall.

Remember the rule: Turn around, don’t drown.

While most of the storms on Tuesday have not turned severe, some did leave behind damage.

That’s the case at a few homes in a subdivision off John Ward Road SW in Cobb County.

Josh Bohannon with Atlanta Arbor Tree Care shared a video of about a half-dozen trees which were snapped in half. Some of the tree halves were dangling in midair, being held up by other trees or vines.

The trees caused some damage to the homes but left a mess of lumber in the residents’ yards.

FOX 5 viewer Jonathan Anderson also got a good look at the storm, but thankfully no damage.

He captured a powerful cloud-to-ground lightning strike from a Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.

The powerful burst seemed to hit a tall object in the distance, possibly a water tower.

The flash was so bright it briefly obscured the iris of Anderson’s camera.
