Police in DeKalb County are searching for a man they say shot and killed his teenage stepson on Thanksgiving night.

Police said at around 10:45 Thanksgiving night, 16-year-old Andres Arias tried to break up his mother and stepfather who got into a confrontation at The Estuary Apartments on Henderson Mill Road.  Investigators said while Arias tried to break up the dispute, he and his stepfather, 35-year-old Cristino Ramos-Santos, got into a physical fight. Detectives said that’s when Ramos-Santos pulled out a gun and shot Arias several times.

“I heard pop pop pop, and I looked out and I did not know who was murdered, but I saw the crowd out here,” said Billy Perry, who lives in the apartment complex.

A memorial is set up in the parking lot outside the building where Arias lived. Police told FOX 5 there were other young teenagers in the apartment at the time of the shooting.

“It is a sad situation, I hope they get the person responsible, especially on Thanksgiving,” said Anna Urbina, who knows the family.  “It must be pretty hard because I am the oldest. I am the oldest of all my brothers, and I only have one brother, and it must be hard to lose one of your own.”

Police believe Ramos-Santos took off in a black GMC Yukon with Georgia Tag PYI2488.  Investigators ask anyone with information to contact The DeKalb County Police Department.
