Gwinnett County police are searching for a man who stabbed his victim 17 times during a fight.

Police said they are search for Viet Dam, 20, of Chamblee. Investigators were able to identify him off of surveillance video of the fight. Police said they have been looking for Viet Dam for the last few weeks.

The video shows what appeared to be two men throwing punches, but one man’s punches were in fact stabs. Police said Viet Dam stabbed his victim 17 times, but the victim didn’t know it at the time.

“So when the two were ultimately separated, you can see the victim stepping back and removing his shirt. And once he removes his shirt you can see his undershirt, his t-shirt, you can see there's a lot of blood on that undershirt,” said Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Michele Pihera. “And he's wiping stuff away from his arms. So, that's when he discovered he was stabbed multiple times.”

Detectives said Dam and the 35-year-old victim were acquaintances who knew the same woman. The two men were at the Paradise Karaoke Café, got into a dispute, and took it to the back of the business.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating Dam.

“In a lot of these cases we want to try to find the suspect ourselves. In this case it's been two weeks. We have not been able to locate the suspected. We need not only the media's help, but the public's help in finding where he is,” said Cpl. Pihera.

The victim is out of the hospital and back home recovering.

As for a motive, authorities have not released that.

Atlanta Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward in this case.
