DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A man and woman were injured in an overnight home invasion in DeKalb County.
“They are very nice people. The lady all the time she's pruning her grass or running errands. We have a nice neighborhood here,” said neighbor Hassan Alwi.
Police said around 1 a.m. Tuesday, someone knocked on the door of a home in the 4200 block of Rue Dartagnan, located off of Rockbridge Road. A 57-year-old woman answered the door and that's when two suspects forced their way into the house.
A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, said the homeowner is a good friend of her and called her about 20 minutes after the incident happened. She said the victim told her once the suspects got inside, they kept asking where the safe was as they ransacked the home. But the neighbor said the victim doesn’t have a safe.
“I would think you want flat screens or jewelry or something like that, but no they didn't take any of that,” the neighbor said.
Police said the home invaders didn’t take anything, but they shot the woman in her hand and shot her 27-year-old son in the leg before fleeing the scene.
The victims gave police descriptions of their attackers, but they have no surveillance cameras to give investigators any pictures.
Both gunshot victims were taken to Grady hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.
