ATLANTA - Police are trying to find the man behind a violent attempted robbery on New Year’s Day.
It happened during the early evening hours of Jan. 1 at the Finish Line Coin Laundry located in the 3200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in southwest Atlanta. According to an incident report released by Atlanta Police, the owner of the laundry was about to close when a man armed with a handgun entered the store. The owner quickly reacted by running and locking himself in the back office.
Video released by police shows the gunman running after the owner and then throwing himself against the door in an attempt to get inside office.

Nothing was taken, but police said they want to get the man off the streets before something does. Police describe the man as being in his late teens to mid-20s with a medium height and build.
