GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - The man killed under mysterious circumstances in Gwinnett County late Thursday evening has been identified by police.
Michael J. Harvey, 39, of Snellville, was found lying in the middle of Button Gwinnett Drive near the intersection of Crescent Drive around 8:30 p.m., suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police. Investigators said the man suffered from at least one gunshot wound.
Paramedics rushed Harvey to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he was pronounced dead.
Nearby, investigators located his SUV as well as a stolen minivan, both vehicles had suffered damage. Investigators are trying to determine if the two vehicles crashed into the other or if they crashed into another unknown object.
At this point police aren’t sure if this is road rage related or if the shooter and victim knew each other. They also don’t know if the man who died was killed by the bullet or when he vehicle wrecked.
A passerby reported the incident to 911 and police said that passerby is cooperating with the investigation. They hope that person can tell them what led up to the man's death.
Police don’t have a description of the other driver, who they said fled the scene.
