CHAMBLEE, Ga. - DeKalb County Police said they have arrested man who shot and killed a female taxi driver during a possible robbery in Chamblee.
The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Luz Mariana Matheu.
Around 9 p.m., police say Matheu picked up a man at the Buford Lodge. A short time later, police said a different taxi driver at a local gas station noticed Matheu in distress and a passenger with a gun.
The second driver followed the vehicle, and saw the passenger shoot Matheu before fleeing the scene, according to police.
Police found David Rey Garcia-Mendoza in a wooded area near the intersection of Woodacres Road and Warwick Circle Saturday night. He's currently in custody and is facing a number of charges, including armed robbery, kidnapping, felony murder and motor vehicle hijacking.
Police said they also discovered a handgun near the location the suspect was found.
