Police asked the public for any information Tuesday that could help them solve the murder of a man on Interstate 20.

Officers responded to a call of gunshots on I-20 near MLK Drive just after midnight on Friday, August 3.  They discovered Rodrigo Castillo, 33, with a gunshot wound.  He did not survive.

"It was shocking," said Richard McAllister, a friend who met Castillo at Caffeinated Crossfit in Smyrna.  "It doesn't make any sense."

McAllister said Castillo was a caring and positive person, who helped everyone he could and was not prone to road rage.  So, he is not sure what may have led to the shooting on the highway.

Atlanta Police said Castillo was driving a silver, 2009 Volkwagon Jetta and they ask anyone with information to come forward.

"Anyone who was traveling on I-20 westbound and past Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive who saw anything or noticed anything suspicious, we encourage them to call us and speak with us about what they saw," said Lt. Andrea Webster, with the Atlanta Police Homicide Unit.

Christine Lee is the co-owner of Caffeinated CrossFit where Castillo worked out nearly every day.  The gym plans to hold a candlelight vigil to honor his life Friday evening.

"The candlelight vigil is a good place for a lot of people who cared about him or just who he touched to be able to talk about him to each other, to be able to just share those memories," said Lee.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Atlanta Police or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous and receive a reward up to $2,000.
