Police: Driver, 25 kids injured in DeKalb school bus crash

A driver and 25 Pleasantdale Elementary School students were injured in an accident involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle in DeKalb County.

Police say a passenger vehicle hit a school bus as it was making a left turn onto Pleasantdale Road near Woodridge Way Tuesday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene, showing crowds of children standing on the sidewalk.

Of the 60 kids that were on the bus, approximately 20 of them complained of minor injuries and will also be treated, according to police. The injured children have been taken to Egleston Children Hospital by bus as a precautionary measure.

The remaining students are being picked up by parents or transported by a school bus to the Forest Cove Apartments, located about a mile away from the accident site, where they live.

The school's principal, district transportation and public safety officials are on the scene.
