COBB COUNTY, GA - One man has been arrested for vandalizing several churches in Cobb County. Satanic symbols and messages of hate were spray-painted on more than half a dozen places of worship over the past two months.
Late Tuesday night, Cobb County Police arrested 32-year-old Clint Vance. They said they found him in his car that matched the description of a vehicle seen on surveillance video from one church.
Investigators said when they questioned him, he confessed to painting messages on a number of churches.
"These were very aggressive phrases on the side of buildings, things like 'Hail Satan'," said Cobb County Police Officer Sarah O'Hara.
Investigators said they were confident the same person was behind all of the vandalism.
"Based on the type of spray paint, the lettering, the satanic symbols, they all appear to be consistent," said Officer O'Hara.
Just recently a similar message was found on a home. Cory Godfrey lives there with some roommates. Godfrey and investigators believed this house was chosen because of a sticker Godfrey has on his truck.
"I have a bible verse on the back of my truck and that's the only reason I can think this house was targeted," said Godfrey.
Investigators arrested Vance just down the road from Godfrey's home.
"I can't imagine the anger he's got to have to go around and do that so many times, it's insane," said Godfrey.
Vance is charged with three felony counts of Vandalism to a Place of Worship. Police said there will likely be additional charges.
