Officials: 4th grader brought loaded gun onto bus

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - School officials in Coweta County say a fourth grader brought a loaded handgun in his backpack on a school bus that was headed to Ruth Hill Elementary School.

The bus driver notified the transportation office and took the backpack from the boy.

A school resource officer searched the backpack and found the gun.

School officials say the student did not make any threats.

Officials say they're taking appropriate disciplinary action.
