CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A man wanted for murder has been arrested in Clayton County for one very unusual reason.
According to deputies, Defearious Cotton walked into the Clayton County Sheriff's Office on Friday to ask for a gun deputies had confiscated from him after an arrest in July of 2017.
Unfortunately for Cotton, officials say he forgot he was wanted in a murder investigation in Fulton County.
A deputy ran Cotton's criminal history to see if he could have his gun returned to him, saw that he was wanted for murder, and altered his fellow deputies.
Cotton didn't get his gun back.
Instead, he's waiting to be extradited to Fulton County to face those murder charges.
