CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. - The Cherokee County woman arrested in connection to the death of her infant daughter appeared in court on Friday.
Alyssa Kincaid was denied bond on a Cruelty to Children in the 2nd Degree charge. The 24-year-old woman was arrested after her daughter, Ciara Campbell, was taken off life support.
Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call from a home on Magnolia Springs Drive in Woodstock late last Thursday night for a "child not breathing." Lt. Jay Baker told FOX 5 News the baby was also discovered with multiple injuries to her body. First responders rushed the 24-day-old child to Northside Cherokee Hospital and then to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta early the next morning.
Kincaid’s boyfriend, Nicholas Campbell, was also arrested. He was charged with four counts of cruelty to children in 1st degree, four counts of aggravated assault, and four counts of aggravated battery as well as possession of methamphetamine.
Officials said Campbell is not the child's biological father of Ciara.
Kincaid was arrested Tuesday during a traffic stop in Canton. Her next court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
