RAW: Katelyn Goble found guilty
A Newton County jury found Katelyn Goble guilty on all charges in the 2016 killing of 19-year-old Morgan Bauer.
NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. - More than a decade after 19-year-old Morgan Bauer disappeared shortly after moving to Georgia, a Newton County jury has convicted 30-year-old Katelyn Goble in her killing.

What we know:
The jury returned its verdict Monday, finding Goble guilty of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and concealing the death of another.
The judge individually polled jurors after the verdict was read, with each confirming the verdict was freely and voluntarily reached.
Goble's sentencing is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday. She is facing possible sentence of life without parole.
What prosecutors said happened to Morgan Bauer
The backstory:
Bauer moved from Aberdeen, South Dakota, to metro Atlanta on Feb. 12, 2016, when she was 19. She had initially arranged through Craigslist to clean a home in exchange for room and board, but that arrangement reportedly fell through. She later stayed at motels and worked as an exotic dancer.

Prosecutors said Goble and her boyfriend, Warren, befriended Bauer and lured her to their home in Porterdale. Prosecutors said Bauer was strangled, her body was dismembered and her remains were later burned.
Prosecutors argued the couple targeted Bauer because they believed no one would miss her. They also described Goble and Warren as being obsessed with serial killers.
Goble's defense maintained that Warren killed Bauer. The defense acknowledged Goble was in the room but argued she was afraid of Warren and remained silent for years because of that fear.
Bauer's disappearance remained a mystery for years
What we know:
Bauer was last recalled by coworkers at an adult entertainment club on Cheshire Bridge Road in Atlanta on Feb. 25, 2016. The next day, she posted a social media video from Porterdale Yellow River Park. She remained active on social media through Feb. 29 before disappearing.
The case remained unsolved for more than seven years.
Investigators returned to Porterdale in July 2023 and searched a home on Broad Street. The GBI conducted another search of the property on Aug. 7 and reported finding items of evidentiary interest, although authorities did not publicly disclose what was found. Bauer's remains were not recovered during that search.

Goble and Warren were arrested in October 2023. Warren was taken into custody in Los Angeles, while Goble was arrested in Peoria, Illinois. Both were extradited to Georgia and indicted the following month.
Warren previously pleaded guilty
Warren eventually pleaded guilty to malice murder, tampering with evidence, concealing the death of another and necrophilia.
He entered a non-negotiated plea and requested life with the possibility of parole. The judge instead sentenced him to life without parole, citing the facts of the case.

Goble's conviction now brings the second prosecution in the long-running case to a close, with her punishment still to be determined at sentencing Tuesday.
