ATLANTA - Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed wants action on housing along the BeltLine. Reed said the problem has to do with the emphasis on ensuring there are enough units affordable to a larger segment of the population.
For example, the mayor said teachers, police officers, and firefighters do not have a chance of enjoying what is widely considered to be an urban jewel.
Officials set a goal of supplying 5,600 units. Less than 15 percent of that number has been funded.
Reed points the finger at priorities set by current leadership. He does allow that for a significant period of time, funding dollars were held up due to a financial dispute with the Atlanta Board of Education.
