ATLANTA - MARTA rail service was interrupted throughout the day on Thursday, as flooding kept trains from following their designated paths.
According to officials, floodwaters halted service between the Five Points station and the Oakland City station. That is on the route to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, causing problems and delays for some riders.
In order to get around the outage, a bus bridge was established, causing riders to get off the train and then take a bus to the next operating station.
Several holiday travelers told FOX 5 this added between 30 minutes to an hour into their commute.
MARTA did tweet out the outage information and put an alert on its website.
Late Thursday Night, MARTA notified us that normal service had resumed and the bus bridge had been terminated.
