Investigators want to know who stabbed a homeless man to death after he was found lying in a park next to a high rise in Midtown Atlanta Wednesday morning.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers were called to the plaza next to One Atlantic Center on West Peachtree Street just before 8 a.m. after a woman who picks up trash at the park discovered the man's body.

When police arrived they found the man with a stab wound to the chest.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

After talking with security for the office building, police said the victim was a homeless man who had recently started staying in the park at night.

"He was sleeping here at least for the last couple of months," explained Atlanta Police Major Michael O'Connor. "So, he's been here a while at this location and he has caused no problems during that time."

So far, investigators have no motive or possible suspects in the homicide.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet released the man's name.

Officers hope that surveillance video from cameras around the area will help their investigation, but they ask anyone with information to call Atlanta Police.
