Man arrested after missing Hall County woman found dead
DAGLONEGA, Ga. (AP) — A Hall County man has been charged with the murder and aggravated assault of a 41-year-old Murrayville woman whose body was found in Lumpkin County.
Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Stephen Wilbanks tells local media that the body of Wanda Kay McDougald was found early Sunday in woods along Georgia State Route 60 north of Dahlonega.
Fifty-two-year-old John Harol Whitfield was arrested Saturday and charged with aggravated assault and murder in connection with McDougald's death. He had been missing since Wednesday.
Wilbanks says McDougald and Whitfield had been a couple at one time, but he couldn't be sure what their relationship status was at the time of her death.
It's unclear if Whitfield has an attorney.
