A historic cabin dating back more than two centuries is set to undergo a major restoration project in Cobb County.

What we know:

The Power-Jackson Cabin was originally built in East Cobb in the early 19th century and has been preserved as a piece of the county's history.

According to the Marietta Daily Journal, Cobb County agreed in 2023 to repair and restore the structure. The following year, county officials approved funding for the project using Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or SPLOST, money.

Restoration expected to cost $340,000

The reconstruction and restoration project is expected to cost about $340,000.

The work is intended to preserve the historic structure and ensure the cabin survives for future generations.
