GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Police want to track down three men who they believe broke into a Gwinnett County woman's car and stole her wallet and then used her bank card to buy snacks.
According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, it happened sometime after 3 a.m. March 13 at an apartment complex off Satellite Boulevard.
"I was speechless," said Althea Wright, who learned her car had been broken into when her bank called that morning to verify unusual charges. "When they see the way you spend your money, anything out of the ordinary, they're going to make a phone call and I'm glad they did."
Investigators said the thieves used Wright's card to buy snacks at a QuikTrip gas station about 10 miles away on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. Wednesday, police released surveillance images from the store of three suspects.
"If you're going to risk your life and your freedom over some snacks, you need a job and you need somebody to pray for you," said Wright.
She said her car was locked, but she has since learned that is not enough to deter thieves.
"Now I don't leave anything in my car. I don't. Every time I get out I'm collecting everything that's important to me," Wright said.
Police said the three suspects drove a red Dodge Journey. Investigators ask anyone who recognizes the suspects to call GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
