ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Governor Brian Kemp urged lawmakers to support a bill that will provide disaster relief to Georgia farmers.
Sen. David Perdue introduced a bill for funding disaster relief.
Officials said Georgia faces $2.5 Billion in agricultural losses from Hurricane Michael, which hit last year.
“The volume of the damage down there, I mean we cannot do this alone on the state's response,” Gov. Kemp said. “When you look around the country it's not just us dealing with this, you got Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, a little bit of Alabama.”
The planting season for most crops in Georgia starts in March.
