ATLANTA (AP) — State labor officials say Georgia's unemployment rate has fallen to 5 percent.
The Georgia Department of Labor on Thursday announced the July unemployment rate of 5 percent, saying it's down from 5.1 percent the previous month and 5.7 percent in July 2015.
State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said in a statement that Georgia's jobless rate declined as employers hired more people and created more jobs.
Butler said the number of unemployed Georgians has fallen to 242,893 — its lowest level since October 2007.
