Family of man shot, killed in downtown Athens seeks public's help

Loved ones of a man shot and killed last month in downtown Athens continue their plea for the public's help.

Authorities found the body of Daniel Macias, 28, shot multiple times at the corner of Hancock Avenue and North Jackson Street. They haven't found his killer.

The victim's sister, Erica Macias, and others handed out flyers Saturday in the area, in hopes that someone will help track down the criminal.

"You never really think it's going to happen to you, especially someone who is close to you. It's been extremely hard for me to process," Macias said.

They're offering an $11,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest. They have also set up a fundraiser to collect more money towards that reward.
