FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - It's been two months, but the dogs seized from a hoarding situation in Fulton County are now up for adoption.
At the time, firefighters had responded to a house fire and found 91 dogs living there.
Fulton County Animal Services worked through the night processing all the dogs.
"I can't even begin to imagine. I don't know how they ate ... can't imagine what it was like there," Lifeline Animal Project Public Relations Director Karen Hirsch said.
She said it was surprising how easy the dogs adapted to shelter life.
"The kennels are usually a stressful place because they don't get daily interaction with humans, the barking. – it can be scary." Hirsch said. "These dogs have improved with the human contact they have."
Hirsch said that quick adaptation tells you how bad these puppies had it before. The shelter wants to find these guys homes, but adopters will need to be mindful of the life they had until now.
"These dogs need special care," she said. "They need people who are patient, that are going to let them acclimate. Some are scared of doors or going outside but are coming around."
