COVINGTON, Ga. - A Georgia deputy is recovering after being attacked by a woman with a glass bottle.
Officials said that Newton County Deputy Moedjirah Vandelisle was called to a home Saturday after someone reported a family member trying to kill herself.
When Vandelisle arrived, the sheriff's office says she was attacked by 38-year-old Karen Lynn Anders.
The sheriff's office says Anders continued fighting after other emergency personnel arrived.
After being hit, kicked and struck on the neck with a bottle, Vandelisle was taken by helicopter to an Atlanta hospital. She was later released.
Anders was taken to a hospital and later booked into jail.
She's charged with aggravated battery and felony obstruction of an officer and remains jailed on $15,000 bail. It's unclear if Anders has a lawyer.
