The Georgia Ballet visited Children’ Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite Tuesday.

Several members of the professional ballet company performed excerpts from their upcoming The Nutcracker production. Patients and their families were able to meet and take pictures with the dancers.

One unexpected, but extremely heart-warming story occurred between one of the Georgia Ballet dancers and one particular patient. Alexa Goldberg, a Georgia Ballet dancer of three years, connected with a patient, who has just undergone back surgery. Alexa shared with this patient about her own ordeal with scoliosis and extensive back surgery as a thirteen year old girl and showed her scars. The result were tears of hope for this young girl, now seeing the potential that she has in her life even with the challenge of overcoming her present ailments.

The Georgia Ballet’s professional company seeks to reach audiences of all ages and interests, from the traditional ballet enthusiasts to the younger generations of new-comers seeking quality entertainment opportunities. This production of “The Nutcracker” promises to offer a delightful experience for everyone.
