College Park Police are searching for a man they say shot and killed 31-year-old Otis Perdue.

It happened last Friday around 1:30 p.m. outside the Quick and Cheap Food Mart on Godby Road. Police said Perdue was shot multiple times shortly after he walked out of the store.

“My son, he was a good person. Everyone he talked to had nothing bad to say about him,” Constance Perdue said over the phone to FOX 5 News. She said she was too distraught to speak in person about the death of her son, Otis Perdue.

College Park police said it appeared Perdue was followed after he left the store.

“There was a confrontation that led to Mr. Perdue being shot. We don't know if they know each other but at this point our investigation led us to suspect the motivation is robbery,” said Lt. Gerald Riser, with the College Park Police Department.

Lt. Riser said surveillance video from the store recorded 23-year-old Aldrich Norval Cain. Police put an alert out for Cain. Detectives said Cain was last seen fleeing in a burgundy Jeep Grand Cherokee, which could be from 2011 to 2016. They said he is considered armed and dangerous.

“We are now looking for him, hoping to get him into custody. We're hoping he turns himself in without a fight but we're not sure of his mindset at this point,” said Lt. Riser.

Perdue's mother said he was engaged to be married and has a child with his fiancé and a child from a previous relationship. She does not understand how in the middle of the afternoon her son's life was senselessly taken.

“It's not right. I don't understand it and I just want to say that the person who did it eventually they will be found. I'm just ready to have justice for my son,” said Ms. Perdue.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the College Park Police Department.
