A man wanted for the murder of a Smyrna woman has been arrested in Texas.

Investigators said Brian Semrinec was taken into custody Monday night in Dallas without incident.

Police said Semrinec, 24, lived in a Smyrna townhome with 28-year-old Shuyi Li. Authorities said when Li did not show up for work last Monday, her friends went to check on her. When they couldn't find her, they called 911. Police broke into her home and found her dead.

Police are calling this a domestic situation that came to a violent and deadly end.

Semrinec is now facing several charges including felony murder and aggravated assault.

The murder shocked those who lived near Li.

"You never think this is going to happen to a friend or a neighbor, but it can happen to anyone, and it's tragic," said neighbor Emily McLaughlin.

Neighbor Rob Porter said Semrinec often kept to himself.

"He was really quiet, we would have these fire pit parties and everyone was talking and he would sit there and say nothing. He was out there a little bit," said Porter.

Police have not released how Li died, but a veteran Lieutenant called this one of the most violent crimes he's ever seen.

"She was a wonderful, wonderful woman and it gives me chills, I'm just really sorry for her and her family," said Porter.
