A man charged in the shooting death of a special needs teen waived his first court appearance Thursday morning.
Roswell Police have charged Gerard Brister, of Brookhaven, with involuntary manslaughter in the death of 17-year-old Zachary Chambless. Brister's attorneys were in court Thursday when a judge granted him a $15,000 bond.
Chambless was shot and killed Tuesday while on his way to a camping trip.
Brister, who was a caretaker for the group trip, was not present when the shooting happened, but police said the gun that Chambless was shot with belongs to him.
The 21-year-old who pulled the trigger will not be charged because police said he has the mental capacity of a 5-year-old.
