BUFORD, Ga. - Police said the man who robbed a bank on Monday after handing a teller a note that said "Merry Christmas" is behind bars.
Joshua Henry Harbin, 30, of Sugar Hill, told investigators that he heard news report about the case on and asked a local resident to call police so he could be taken into custody.
Investigators believe Harbin is responsible for a bank robbery that took place at the BB&T bank located in the 4300 block of Buford Drive. Bank employees told responding officers the suspect entered the building from the back of the business, which faces a Walgreens.
Police said the suspect waited in line before approaching a teller with a note demanding cash. At the bottom of the note, the robber said "Merry Christmas."
"I think the staff and the employees were not expecting to see such a greeting at the bottom of the demand note," said Gwinnett Police Corporal Michelle Pihera.
Police said he took off with a small amount of cash through the back door.
Harbin faces one count of robbery.
