PARIS, France - A man armed with a knife attacked a police station in Paris Thursday, and was shot to death by officers. The attack is being investigated as a potential act of terrorism.
Officials say the man had wires extending from his clothing. An explosives squad responded to the scene after the attack. Officers later determined that the attacker was wearing a fake explosives vest. The neighborhood near the police station was locked down following the incident.
This assault happened one year to the day after the attack on the Paris offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. Eleven people were killed inside the magazine's offices. Six others were killed elsewhere, including three police officers.
France has been under a state of emergency since a terror attack carried out by Islamic State militants in November. 130 people were killed in that assault.
