ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Georgia's governor took the next step in combatting human trafficking in the state.
Governor Brian Kemp signed the anti-human trafficking protective response act on Thursday.
The governor said the new law will equip law enforcement with the tools they need to keep Georgia families safe and help fight the growing threat of modern-day slavery here.
The first lady will also spearhead a new commission called GRACE.
That stands for Georgians for Refuge, Action, Compassion, and Education.
The group, comprised of public officials, law enforcement and other organizations, will assist in efforts to crack down on human trafficking.
