A valet driver struck a group of pedestrians in Midtown, killing one of them, according to Atlanta Police.

The incident happened overnight on 6th and Juniper streets.

Police say the valet driver got out of the vehicle without fully putting it in park. The car began to roll forward and the driver tried to jump back inside, but accidentally hit the gas pedal, police said. The vehicle accelerated, hitting a group of people standing nearby.

Police say one of the victims, who became pinned between the two vehicles, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. The person was later pronounced dead.

The five others were also taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

No further details were immediately available.
