CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - Clayton County Police are asking for the public's help after a stranded motorist was assaulted in the area of Lees Mill Road and Bob White Trail Monday morning. Lieutenant Steve Palmer told FOX 5 News the unidentified motorist is "hospitalized in critical condition."
The unidentified woman was traveling along Lees Mill Road sometime between 8 and 9 Monday morning when she ran into trouble. According to police, her vehicle overheated. She pulled over, started looking up under the hood and heard a long bang, or pop. The woman was disoriented, going in and out of consciousness but was able to call 911 after she was hit. "She suffered blunt force trauma to the head."
What little information she could provide in the hours following the assault has investigators now asking anyone who was in the area around the time the attack occurred and saw suspicious activity or noticed a red or maroon four door sedan in the area to give them a call.
"Between the hours of 8 and 9 o'clock it's an industrial way a lot of people would've been traveling in the area going to and from work to avoid interstate it's a side road that runs along 75."
