Police on Wednesday released the name of the man found dead in South Fulton by a postal worker earlier in the week.

Police said Mark Barnes appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound, which investigators believe could be the cause of death. The official cause of death is still under investigation.

Mark Barnes's body was found just before 2 p.m. by a mail carrier delivering a package in the 6400 block of Chattahoochee Drive SW. South Fulton Police said the postal worker called 911 telling dispatchers the body was in the roadway.

Police said it appeared that his body had been there for a while.
