ATLANTA, Ga. - Investigators are working to learn more about a young boy who showed up at police headquarters Wednesday night.
Police first told us Lazarius Walker was dropped off around 7:00 p.m. The 12-year-old told officers he had been staying at the City of Refuge Shelter on Joseph E Boone Boulevard in Atlanta with his mother. He said "Pumpkin," his mom, left Monday night and hasn't been seen since.
Detectives later said Lazarius "may not have been entirely truthful" in regards to how he ended up at the police station. Officers said once the story aired on FOX 5, family members began calling and informed detectives that he ran away.
