NEWNAN, Ga. - Residents who live near a convict are questioning why a judge let the man out of jail on a signature bond after an attempted sexual molestation charge.
Coweta County Sheriff Mike Yeager confirms his department arrested 75-year-old Harry Vernon Boswell on November 11th for allegedly enticing a child for indecent purposes and attempted child molestation.
The case has bothered many people who live near Boswell because he had been convicted earlier of child cruelty in Douglas County, but a Coweta County judge released the elderly man following his latest arrest, in part because of his declining health.
Sheriff Yeager says Boswell drove a 15-year-old boy to a location and made some inappropriate comments. The teen told his mother, and she took the case straight to the Sheriff's Department.
"We take cases like this very seriously," Sheriff Yeager said. Boswell faces two felony charges.
The sheriff says Boswell has recently relocated to a nursing home in Meriwether County.
