WHEELING, W.Va. - The Olive Garden showed first responders extra appreciation this Labor Day. The restaurant chain delivered free hot lunches to firefighters, police, emergency service members, and other first responders.
While other people enjoyed the day off, Sergeant Rod Vaught of the West Virginia Sheriff’s Department says, “I know on days like today when a lot of people are off enjoying the holiday weekend, we're still here working, and it's just nice to know that some other members of the community acknowledge that and show their appreciation. It means a lot to us."
Olive Garden has been providing meals for first responders on Labor Day since 2002.
They says it’s their way of showing appreciation to the men and women who sacrifice their time and lives to keep us safe.
“It doesn't matter if it's the middle of the night. They respond to all of our needs, and we can't be more grateful for that" says manger Terri Mentz.
