DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A 29-year-old mother of five has been in the hospital for more than a week after being shot in an armed robbery.
On November 20th, two women pulled into the Redan Cove Apartments in the 3700 block of Redan Road around 3:00 a.m. Police said as soon as they pulled into a parking space, they were approached by two men. One of the men went up to the driver's side and the other approached the passenger's side. Investigators said they opened the doors pointing guns at the victims and demanded money.
The driver put the car in reverse and tried to back out and leave, according to police. That's when the man on the driver's side opened fire and struck the driver. She was able to pull out of the apartment complex and pulled off along the roadway. The victim in the passenger seat told police they had just been robbed and her friend had been shot.
The driver has been identified as Taliah McCier. She was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition. A family member told us the young mother continues to fight for her life. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help cover medical expenses.
