SMYRNA - Watching televised mass killings in Paris or California, have rattled many citizens. If individuals never owned a gun, a merchant said he is seeing them come to make a purchase. If they already own weapons, some are coming back to stock up.
Jay Wallace, from Adventure Outdoors, noticed the uptick ever since the Paris terrorism attack.
And just on Black Friday, sales climbed 25 percent over the same period one year ago. On that one day, the store sold more than 500 guns, according to Wallace.
Gun owner Phil Perkins visited the store on Thursday. He said he and his neighbors cannot leave their protection in the hands of the government, anticipating police officers can arrive in time to head off what could be multiple shooters bent on taking out as many people as possible.
Perkins left the Smyrna store and headed to his government office to get his lapsed carry permit renewed.
