ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. - Rockdale County Sheriff's investigators are working tirelessly to find the gunmen responsible for two shootings, two miles apart, in just a matter of days
The first shooting happened on Sugar Maple Lane. It was a beautiful afternoon and many people were outside doing yard work when gunfire erupted.
"Anyone in that house could have gotten killed," said one neighbor.
One bullet went through the wall of a home and into the family's television. That TV was just on the other side of a child's bedroom.
"The television stopped the bullet from penetrating the wall and possibly hitting and killing her child," said a neighbor.
Four days later, more bullets were flying through another neighborhood. This one was less than two miles away. A teenager told police he was in his yard when someone started firing at him from the back seat of a car. Fortunately, he wasn't hurt.
The teen's mother told FOX 5 News, "Police said because this house was the only one with someone standing out in the yard, they don't know if that's why they fired at him, or if this was random."
In both cases witnesses saw a 4 door white car. Investigators said they have no reason to believe the cases are related, but they haven't ruled that out.
"We would like to stop any further damage to property but more importantly, we'd like to make sure there are no injuries to any unsuspecting parties," said Michael Meyers with the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office.
Neighbors said whoever is doing it just needs to stop. They fear next time it may not be a house or a TV, but a bullet could hit a person.
