ATLANTA - Atlanta Police are looking for an armed man they said robbed two friends near a popular Atlanta neighborhood.
“We heard footsteps coming from behind,” said Angela Graham who was walking home at around 3 a.m. Sunday. “Next thing I know, he is right next to me with a gun in my face.”
Graham said she and her friend David Knapp were walking on Krog Street near DeKalb Avenue.
“He said ‘give me your stuff,’ so I crouched to the ground in sort of a fetal position and give him my purse, then he turns to David and points the gun at David,” said Graham.
Atlanta police said the crook took off with their wallets, iPhone, their watches and cash. Investigators said the armed robbery took place just blocks from Krog Street Market, an area where many people walk, ride their bikes and families gather.
“Just a few hours before there were families in the neighborhood for the lantern festival,” said Graham. “I would want everybody who lives in the area to be aware.”
Police said there are no cameras in the area.
“It is a shame that the community is going through something like this,” said Cary Jones who often walks through the area.
Graham said she recently moved into the neighborhood and it is a shame that something like this happened in an area that lends itself to walking places.
“Part of the reason I moved down here was to walk, so I will either be going home earlier or taking a service and it is well worth it,” said Graham.
