Atlanta, Ga - The coldest temperatures since last February are on the way for later tonight through Wednesday. All of north Georgia will see readings by Tuesday morning in the 20s with some spots across the mountains dropping to near 20. Again these are the coldest readings since almost a year ago. Be sure to protect pets and pipes as temperatures will be below freezing for several hours once we get past midnight. The same is true for Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
The afternoons will continue to be cold as well with highs in only in the 40s through Wednesday, and then gradually climbing into the low 50s by Thursday and Friday. There is an outside chance that we hit 60 or better on Saturday before cooler temperatures return Sunday.
Very little moisture is expected in the near term although some cloud cover will return late Wednesday and mostly cloudy skies will be the result on Thursday. Light to moderate rain will develop late Thursday, and through the day on Friday resulting in in less than a quarter of an inch of rain. Dry weather and milder temperatures will return on Saturday before the next system brings rain and chilly weather back to north Georgia on Sunday.
