SWAT investigation at Gwinnett County home
The SWAT operation happened at a home off of Highway 124 in Centerville overnight.
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - A SWAT team descended on a home off of Highway 124 in Gwinnett County after an incident overnight.
The police activity happened close to the Walmart in the unincorporated community of Centerville.
What we know:
FOX 5 cameras spotted multiple officers with the Gwinnett County Police Department and Gwinnett Sheriff deputies at the scene while the investigation was ongoing overnight.
While details about the situation remain limited, authorities say that officers came out to the home and the situation escalated to the point where a SWAT team responded to the scene.
The SWAT team sent a dog into the building and then entered the home. They came out without anyone in custody.
While the SWAT officers have left the area, crime scene technicians remain on the scene hours later.
Deputies are combing through a nearby empty field looking for evidence with K-9 officers and metal detectors.
What we don't know:
Authorities have not yet released details about what led up to the incident or if anyone is in custody.
